Self Help Tips

•Identify areas of personal strengths. Look for ways in your school, home, and community to use your personal strengths.

•Avoid unhelpful negative thoughts toward others.

•Surround yourself with positive people that love and support you, and avoid negative peers.

•Make a list of areas that are going well in your life, and review it daily. By focusing on positive aspects of life, one can begin to change the way that he/she thinks.

•Read or listen to uplifting songs/ material.

•Set realistic goals to work on areas of weakness in your life.

•You have to be open to making mistakes, and you must allow yourself to learn from them. Always congratulate yourself when you do well.

•Find a trustworthy individual to talk to about your struggles.

Finding Help 

•Ask your primary care physician for a referral.

•Talk with your school counselor about finding help.

•Ask family or friends to recommend someone based on their experiences.

•Check with your Health Insurance Company, church, or community center.
